Some Facts About Me

Here I answer some set questions given to me by my lecturer, I answer the questions as best I can without making them too long. Enjoy reading!

What is the title of the book (fiction) you are currently reading, or
what is the title of the last fiction book you read?

The last fiction book that I read would have been the first Game of Thrones book by George R.R Martin, the book itself is strange in the sense that every chapter is based around (Or focuses on) a different character. This made it a little difficult to follow at first but I found that 4-5 chapters in you kind of get used to it. However, introducing each character almost separately the way the author has is a really interesting concept because you’re able to get an in-depth view into the characters background and history. I’m torn between not liking and liking this technique because it’s not exactly the most coherent way to tell a story but it’s such a brilliant way to introduce characters and bring them together gradually as opposed to throwing them all in at once.

What is the title/topic of the book (non-fiction) you are currently

reading, or what is the title/topic of the last non-fiction book you
read?

In quite the contrast to Game of Thrones, the last Non-Fiction book I read would be The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. When hearing about this book it amazed me because it took the author almost 6 years to gather and collate all the facts and knowledge used in this book. And not only did he just pile a thousand and one facts into an award winning book, he tied an in-depth and intense story on top of the hard facts. Being hugely into history and ancient history, this book peaked my curiosity before I had even started reading.

What is the last live performance (music, drama or dance) you
attended?

The last Live Event I went to was last year in November, I went to see Silverstein in London. The gig itself blew my mind because not only were my favourite band playing that night, but I didn’t get ID’d at the bar! There I was, preparing for the ‘can I see your ID please?’ My card in hand and that dreaded question never arose! Needless to say I spent way too much money than night and stumbled onto the train where I asked a complete stranger to wake me up at the Ipswich stop.

What is the title of the last film you saw at the cinema / online or
watched on DVD?

The last movie I saw at the cinema was Dracula: Untold staring Luke Evans, Dominic Cooper and Sarah Gadon. The movie itself was awesome, the way the writers incorporated Gaius Julius Caesar as the ‘Master Vampire’ or the original (as I like to call him) was utterly mind blowing! When watching the movie as that character was revealed I initially thought it was Nosferatu, but reading reviews and articles online I was awed as I found out that the master vampire was the Roman Emperor Caesar. That aside, the movie ended in a way that strongly suggested a sequel was right around the corner, I won’t post any spoilers but I would entirely recommend watching this movie through.

How often do you read a newspaper? (Which one? Online or physical?)

Honestly, I haven’t read a newspaper in a couple of years. Typically because it’s all just bias, boring and negative. There’s maybe one or two positive stories for every eight negative ones. For the past few years I have received my news through my smart phone or twitter, I find that if you look in the right places a lot of the news stories that are pushed through smart phones, they’re actually readable. The articles have something to say, they address real world problems and what’s relevant now.

Which art gallery / museum / exhibition did you last visit?

I haven’t been to a gallery since early sixth form, however, the last one I attended was the British National History Museum in London. The trip was for new year 12’s at the time but I managed to convince my tutor to make some space for a couple of friends and myself. As I was heavily into photography at the time combined with my love for history, needless to say I made my time there worthwhile.

How many hours a week do you spend playing video games?

How many hours do I spend playing video games a week? On average, I would say about thirteen, gaming is something I have just resorted to instinctively for the last, eight years or so. Recently I have been replaying through the Halo franchise again on Legendary, I’m currently 90% of the way through Halo 4 on Legendary and I find myself getting angrier and angrier with every second I’m holding the controller.

How many hours a week do you spend playing games other than video
games?

If I’m honest, I spend the minimal amount of time playing non-digital games. Other than when the family and I get together on Christmas or New Years and we play monopoly or something. For example, last year my family and I played 2 and a half hour game of Monopoly, The Lord of The Rings Edition.
